They Made Me Read Subtitles for 2 Hours... And I Don't Regret It ('Alpha' Movie Review)

Image courtesy of www.moviesrankings.com Hey! So I just watched this movie "Alpha" on Netflix and I NEED to tell you about it!  Okay, so first things first - heads up that you'll need to read subtitles because they're speaking this super ancient language called Solutrean (I literally had to Google what that was 😅). But don't let that scare you away because this movie is totally worth it! So the story follows this guy Keda, who's basically trying to prove to his dad (who's the tribe chief) that he's not a kid anymore. You know, typical father-son stuff, except they're living 20,000 years ago! The whole tribe's survival depends on hunting, and they go after these MASSIVE bison. Like, why not start with something smaller, right? 😂 Things get real when Keda gets separated from his tribe during a hunt. Everyone thinks he's dead (spoiler: he's not!), and this is where it gets interesting - he meets this wolf! At first, they're enemies (...

Why 'Love at First Sight' Feels Like a Missed Chance: A Movie Review

Image courtesy of www.showtimes.com   Love at First Sight follows the story of two strangers, Hadley and Oliver, whose paths cross in the most unexpected way. The movie introduces a unique storytelling element through a mysterious narrator, who takes on various roles, from a bus driver to a party girl to an immigration officer. This Cupid-like figure adds a whimsical touch, reminding viewers of fate’s playf...

Should Breadwinners Bear It All? And The Breadwinner is.. Movie Review

Image courtesy of www.imdb.com   Watching And the Breadwinner Is was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. From the moment I tried booking a ticket on SM Cinema’s website last night, I faced multiple failed transactions. Thankfully, I managed to secure a ticket after several attempts—a struggle that felt like a precursor to the movie's deeply emotional and relatable themes. Vice Ganda stars as Bambi Salvador, an ex-OFW and family breadwinner. One of the film's most powerful scenes involves Bambi confronting her siblings, standing in a corner and pouring her heart out. The raw emotion in her lines and Vice's impeccable performance left me sobbing. The intensity of that scene was overwhelming, and at times, I wished the director would cut it short because the pain was almost unbearable. Vice’s delivery was so compelling that I found myself thinking she deserves a nomination for Best Actor or Actress. I also connected deeply with the character of Biboy (played by Jhong Hilario...
