A Heartfelt Christmas Message from a Year of Reconnection

Hi, this is Mark Anthony Gastardo, and I want to greet all of you and your families a Merry Christmas!

To those celebrating alone, whether you're abroad or simply navigating the holidays on your own, I want to send a special greeting your way. Merry Christmas to you, and I hope you find the silver lining in every situation. Even when things seem tough, there’s always something to be grateful for. Trust me.

This year has been far from easy. God truly tested me, but through those challenges, my faith and relationship with Him grew stronger. I’ve come to realize that every difficulty carries a lesson and it gets tougher and tougher, and for that, I am thankful.

I’d like to take this moment to express my gratitude to the people who made this year meaningful:

To my family—my mom, her partner, my siblings, and my in-laws—thank you. This year, I deeply felt your presence, and I’m so glad that we’ve grown closer. We are not a very vocal family but your support has been a source of strength for me.

To my employees, thank you for putting up with my quirks and mood swings. You allow me the space to take breaks when I need them, and your understanding means so much. You’ve made my work life lighter, and I appreciate all of you.

To my relatives, this year has been about reconnecting, and I am so happy I got the chance to bond with you again—my aunts, uncles, and cousins. You’ve reminded me of the joy of family and shared memories.

To my clients, thank you for continuing to trust the company I’ve built. I promise to keep striving to provide even better service in the coming year.

To my suppliers, you’ve played a vital role in helping us serve our clients well. We couldn’t have achieved what we did without your partnership and support.

To my friends, though my circle may have gotten smaller, I know that those who stayed are truly quality friends. You are the ones I can call, confide in, and seek advice from. Thank you for listening to my rants and always being there for me.

To my high school batchmates from San Nicolas College, reconnecting with you has been one of the highlights of my year. Seeing you again and building new memories has been such a joy. To those I’ve reconnected with more deeply, thank you for the ongoing chats and meaningful conversations. I’m proud of all of you.

To everyone who provided emotional and psychological support, especially during my darkest moments, thank you for being there. You helped me get through times when I felt like giving up, and I will always be grateful.

As I reflect on 2024, I can honestly say it hasn’t been an easy year. But despite the struggles, there is still so much to be thankful for.

Merry Christmas to all of you. May this season bring warmth, hope, and light into your lives. Let’s keep moving forward, holding on to the good things, no matter how small.

From the moment I tried booking a ticket on SM Cinema’s website last night, I faced multiple failed transactions. Thankfully, I managed to secure a ticket after several attempts—a struggle that felt like a precursor to the movie's deeply emotional and relatable themes. Vice Ganda stars as Bambi Salvador, an ex-OFW and family breadwinner. One of the film's most powerful scenes involves Bambi confronting her siblings, standing in a corner and pouring her heart out. The raw emotion in her lines and Vice's impeccable performance left me sobbing. The intensity of that scene was overwhelming, and at times, I wished the director would cut it short because the pain was almost unbearable.
